GLOBAL VIEW – EDUCATION REFORM AND ASSESSMENT

Mr. Connolly presented a Global View of Education Reform and Assessment which addresses the broad framework of education reform and assessment.

APPROVAL OF TOWN MEETING ARTICLE

Mr. Connolly provided the School Committee with a copy of an article submitted on their behalf for Town Meeting which pertains to use of recreational conveyances on school property.  Mr. Connolly has since learned that the reason the Finance Committee excluded school property from Article 53 of the Town of Natick By-Law was that they did not feel they had the authority to include school property.  Town Counsel sees no reason why school property cannot be included in the bylaw.  Ms. Broekel moved for approval to support removing the words “non-school” from Article 53 and if concerns are raised at town meeting, a new article could be drafted.    Mr. Wynne seconded.  The motion carried 6 to 1.

ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS

Ms. Mary Ellen Dunn requested that the School Committee accept the following donations:

Anonymous Gift to High School Math and
Foreign Language Departments                    $100

Donation from Int’l Association of Firefighters
Local 1707 to HS Ski Team                               $1000
