SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
January 12, 2004

The School Committee held a meeting on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. in the School Committee Room, Town Hall.  Chairman Haugland called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Chairman Haugland asked if anyone wished to come forward for public speak.  No one came forward.


FY05 BUDGET REVIEW

A continuation of the discussion on the FY05 budget was held.  Mr. Connolly introduced Mr. Stuart Peskin and Ms. Barbara Brown who provided a report on the state of the elementary schools.  Ms. Ruth Evans and Ms. Kristen St. George reported on the state of the middle schools.

Two upcoming meetings are being held to discuss the middle school model – Kennedy’s meeting will be February 10 and Wilson’s meeting will be February 11.  Parents will also be receiving a survey on the middle school model and are urged to complete and return them.  


REPORT FROM TRANSPORTATION SUBCOMMITTEE

Ms. Packer discussed the recent meeting that the Transportation Subcommittee held.  Ms. Packer moved for approval to direct the superintendent to meet with Town Counsel to prepare an article for Town Meeting regarding transportation funding.  Mr. Wynne seconded.  Some discussion took place.  Mr. Connolly read a draft article which he had already asked Town Counsel to prepare.    The draft article will be put on the School Committee agenda for January 21.  Ms. Packer withdrew her motion.  Mr. Wynne seconded.  



The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
