Safety Committee Minutes
June 19, 2006
The meeting was called to order by Chief Mannix, Chairman, at 9:30 a.m.

A special meeting was held by the Safety Committee on June 19, 2006 at the Board of Selectmen's Office primarily to address issues brought forward by the Natick Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.
Approval of the April 25, 2006 Safety Committee Minutes: The committee VOTED to approve the minutes of the April 25, 2006 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Adams Street: The committee VOTED to table this issue until the next meeting so that Mr. Coviello, the Town Engineer, and Mr. Johnson, the property owner of the HVAC Company could be present to better define the town owned property line.
Winter Street and Oak Street: Sgt. Lauzon updated the committee that he is working with Mr. Coviello, the Town Engineer, to put together design changes for this intersection. The committee VOTED to table this issue until the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Oak Knoll Road Residents: The committee received a request for repainting of the crosswalk and the placement of pedestrian signs at the end of Oak Knoll Road, for area residents crossing Rte. 27. The crosswalk and pedestrian sign originate at the end of the privately owned driveway. Mr. Quilty, Natick DPW worker and Sgt. Lauzon, Traffic Safety Officer, will order high visibility pedestrian crossing signs for this location. NO ACTION was required by the committee to address this issue.
Request for address change from 22 Lookout Avenue to Great Rock Circle: The committee VOTED to request that the Board of Selectmen hold a public hearing in order to address this request.
Request for curbing at Oak Street and Bacon Street Intersection: Mr. Sisitsky, town of Natick DPW Director, advised the committee that this is already on his schedule to be done. NO ACTION was required by the committee.
Natick Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee: The purpose of holding this special meeting of the Safety Committee was primarily to address the implementation of signage regarding the safety of Natick bicyclists. The committee VOTED to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that the signs selected should be approved by the Massachusetts Highway Division in accordance with the UMTDC (Uniform Manual Traffic Control Devices).
The committee adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
