Approval of April Safety Committee Minutes: The committee VOTED: to approve the minutes of the April 26, 2005 meeting after a couple of changes were made.
Bunker Lane Keep Right Signs at Island: The committee agreed to leave signs as they are because they conform to standard traffic rules and regulations.
Traffic Survey Results on Speen Street: The committee agreed to continue to work with Adessa Transport, hoping to get voluntary compliance from the tractor trailer operators who have been advised of alternate routes to reduce the number of car carriers using Speen Street.
Address Concerns for 881 Worcester Street: The committee considered the matter of Staples and Building 19 1/5 having the same address (881 Worcester Street). The concern was with the 911 locator indicating to public safety dispatchers the same address for both businesses which could lead to unnecessary and potentially dangerous delay in response. The police department will pursue the matter with the building owner and proprietors.
Penacook Lane Speeding and Cars Cutting Through: The committee agreed to maintain police presence to enforce speeding and traffic safety regulations in the neighborhood.
Abandoned/Burned Property on Hartford Street: The committee VOTED: to refer this issue back to the Building Inspector, Mike Melchiorri, to check on it and then make recommendations to the Safety Committee.
Request for Crosswalk from Lodge Road to the East Side of Speen Street: The committee VOTED: to recommend to the Board of Selectmen the placement of a crosswalk at the intersection of Lodge Road and Speen Street, which would run easterly to A.J. Lane Park; contingent upon the Speen Street reconstruction project.
Safety Issue in Front of Wilson Middle School: The Traffic Safety Officer will contact Mr. Hladick at the Natick DPW relative to getting crosswalks painted, lines in the roadways painted as well as providing and installing appropriate signage.
Safety Issue on Maple Street: The committee discussed the traffic safety on Maple, as well as the other five streets that run westerly on West Central beginning at Palmer Avenue, ending at Cemetery Street. The committee determined that it would be reasonable to have the Traffic Safety Officer perform a traffic and speed survey of all six streets and make recommendations to the committee.
