ASIAN LONGHORN BEETLE UPDATE 8/13/09
URGENT MESSAGE
The Asian  Longhorn Beetle adults have emerged in the Worcester area. Most of you have heard through the news media how serious a pest this is. Experts now believe the ALB has been in the Worcester area for at least 10 years.
The ALB does fly a little but does not move great distances on its own. The chances of it having been spread by people in contaminated wood or on vehicles over these past 10 years are high.
Tree Wardens across the state are asking their residents to be on the lookout for the adult beetles. If they have established themselves in an area other than Worcester, we need to find them and eradicate them.
If you are not sure what to look for you can go to;
Both sites have excellent links and information.
If you even think you have found something that looks like ALB, grab it, save it, and call         508-647-6558, or any of the numbers on the web sites.
No calls are frivolous. I hope every call I get is a false alarm.
