Board of Trustees Meeting

Call to Order: 4:05 pm
1. The minutes of the August 15, 2008 meeting were unanimously approved.
2. Ms. Finlay distributed the final July 2007-June 2008 income and expenses statement.
3. Ms. Finlay distributed the operating and municipal budget reports to date for FY09.
4. Myrna Stacy is compiling information for our auditor.
5. The library's new security system has been installed by American Alarm and is in use now.
6. The new computer Smart Access Management System (SAM) is tentatively scheduled to be installed in late September. Patrons will be notified in advance since Internet access will not be available for several days during the installation.
7. Deborah Kelsey presented a letter to the Board commending former Assistant Director Sal Genovese for the ongoing technical support he has continued to provide to the Morse. The Board will send a letter to Sal expressing their appreciation.
8. Ms. Finlay reported that interviews for the Head of Reference position are scheduled for this week and next.
9. Marie Nardi, the new Community Relations Coordinator, has begun work. She is already working on plans for the library's Annual Fund for the end of the year.
10. Young Adult Librarian Abby Reidy will continue working part-time (10-12 hours/week) until the library has hired her replacement.
11. Library Director Paula Polk has announced her plans to retire at the end of October. Ms. Finlay discussed plans for a staff luncheon in her honor to be held on Friday, October 24.
12. The following motion was approved by unanimous vote of the Board:
"In honor of Paula Polk, the trustees move to expend as matching
funds up to $5,000 from the trust funds for the construction of two
stained glass windows to be located at the front foyer, and to invite
the Friends of the Library to participate."
13. Ms. Finlay reported that the Natick High School Yearbooks have been sent to the Northeast Document Conservation Center for microfilming.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 4:00 pm in the Community Room of the Library.
